Mark it on your calendars. Call a buddy, bring a friend. We will be releasing our long-awaited debut CD "Neverend" at the Oregon Express Saturday, September 27th. The show starts at 10 p.m. and The Winter Sounds and Look Mexico will be performing as well.

We will be performing songs from the CD, as well as some new material we've been working on. And of course we will have the CDs there for sale, along with some t-shirts. So come on out and enjoy the show.

If you happen to be near Nashville, or near your computer, tune in to WRVU 91.1 FM between 9 - 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17th, to catch them spinning tracks from "Neverend."

murmur lives!

Hello! How’ve you been? It’s been about a year, well, looks like you haven’t changed a bit. I like the thing you’re doing with your hair, what kind of hair gel is that?

We here at Murmur have been through a lot. Chad got a new place (and is working on his studio, very exciting), Tim had a son, Sam and Nakesha got engaged (to each other, no less), and I’m about to start my fifth and final job and move into someplace I won’t have to move out of in 6 months. What can I say? Life is grand.

Amidst everything, we have managed to practice, write some new songs, and (are you sitting down?), make our CD! It looks great, sounds awesome, and it will be yours. It’s cooler than Fonzie jumping the shark and smoother than trying to get to first base at a Michael Buble concert. CD release party will be soon, so clear your calendar, and we’ll keep in touch.

It was nice talking to you, you look great… you really do.

Well, the Guided By Voices Tribute at Southgate House was a resounding success. Thanks to all of you that came out to support the bands and the charity. We had a great time getting to play some of our favorite GBV songs to an appreciative audience and got to hear some other bands blast out more of our favorite songs.

Perhaps the sweetest part (and a bit intimidating) was the fact that Robert Pollard himself was there, watching over us and all the other bands as we played his songs. Word is that he enjoyed it as well.

GBV Tribute

If you've been wondering - No we didn't break up, and no, we didn't lose another drummer. If you don't believe me, come out on Feb. 23 to the Southgate House in Newport KY and find out for yourself.

We're going to be part of a Guided by Voices tribute with plenty of other great bands from Dayton and Cincy. So show some love for Dayton's on Robert Pollard and GBV. Proceeds go to benefit The Scratching Post.

The Midpoint Music Festival show went great, and we got a nice write-up in the MPMF edition of CityBeat magazine. We're also featured in the print edition of this week's Cin Weekly as well. Here is what the nice people at CityBeat had to say: "Making chiming, honey-dripped Pop Rock that is alternately tranquil and nervous, this Dayton quintet has had a lot of drama in just three short years of existence. Spinal Tap-worthy drummer rotation? Check. Near total loss of all musical gear and recording equipment? Oh yeah (though most property and, more importantly, recordings were salvaged). Midpoint Music Festival

murmur will be playing the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati on September 27th. We are playing at the Speakeasy and go on at midnight.

Don't worry about the time though, there are a ton of great bands playing, so there is plenty to see. In fact, Superdrag will be playing earlier that evening, so you have time to check them out and then come on over and get your fill of the murm'.

If you haven't heard, our upcoming shows at Walnut Hills and Dirty Jack's got canceled, one due to change in ownership, other due to a booking conflict. Don't worry though, we're not breaking up and we're working on booking some shows for next month.

Just call us butter, 'cause we're on a roll. We've got a great couple months lined up for July and August with nearly a show a week.

The fun begins Thursday, July 26th at The Pearl. This will be our first show with our new drummer Dave Pope, so be there so you can tell your kids about it.

If you didn't get your weekly recommended dose of murmur from that, come out to the Oregon Express on Saturday July 28th and enjoy good music and good pizza.

It's deja vu all over again when murmur strikes back at the Oregon Express on Saturday, August 11th.

UD students can rock in another semester with murmur on Saturday, August 18th at Walnut Hills (on Brown Street).

Not even Cincinnati is safe from the murmur freight train. We roll on down to Cincy and hit Dirty Jacks on Saturday, August 25th.

So come one, come all and enjoy the shows. Who knows, we might even give a prize to any murmur fan that makes it to all five shows.

There are a lot of exciting things going on here at murmur. First, murmur and the Oregon Express are teaming up yet again to bring you an exciting night of great indie rock music and delicious pizza. That's right, we have another show at the Oregon Express, Friday, March 9th. The festivities begin at 10 p.m. with Andrew and the Pretty Punchers, followed by your's truly.

If that wasn't enough, soon you will be able to proclaim your love for murmur to the world with one of our t-shirts. It goes perfect with any outfit - jeans, your favorite jacket, plaid shorts. OK, maybe not everything, but you get the idea.

They will be ready in just a few weeks, and available for purchase at one of our shows and online. The cost will be $10 each direct, or $15 online to cover shipping, sizes S through XL.

You can go ahead and pre-order now by e-mailing your name, number of shirts, and sizes to tim@murmurband.com and we will make sure to set your shirts aside when they become available.

Next up ... locusts

In yet another setback in the recording process, our studio (aka Chad's basement) got flooded, causing damage to some of our gear and recording set-up. The bad news is that it doesn't look like it is going to be covered by the insurance, but the good news is everyone is OK. Other good news is that Shawn hasn't left, so we still have a drummer. The biggest question right now is if we are going to be able to save the recordings we've done so far. All of our work has been digital, and the computer got soaked and shorted out but we haven't determined if the hard drives are OK yet. No worries though, murmur isn't going anywhere, and we will be coming back stronger than ever in 2007. We're in the process of booking some shows for early next year, so keep your eyes and ears open for upcoming shows. ..::murmur

It's ALIVE

murmur will be rising from the ashes triumphantly like a phoenix on Saturday, November 4th. Come join us as we hit the stage again with a new drummer and rock the Oregon Express in Dayton. Once again, we say good-bye to another drummer and the search begins again. George "Jorge" Nunez is moving on, but not without one last show. Bad news, murmur was knocked out of the Dayton Band Playoffs last Sunday by the Smokee Basement Project. It was a really good show and we got some more good press from the Dayton Daily News. Check it out here

Dayton Band Playoffs Update

murmur finished round 1 of the Canal Street Tavern Dayton Band Playoff's tied for 15 place. We just received our date for round 2 and wanted to let you all know.

We'll be playing Sunday Night, July 23rd head-to-head against Smokee Basement Project. I haven't heard them yet but I think they got more votes than us in round 1, so...

WE NEED YOU TO VOTE FOR MURMUR!

I know a lot of you couldn't make it to round 1, and we're willing to let that slide, this time. But you gotta come out to round 2 and show the love! We'll be playing 2 sets so regardless of who goes first we'll have a whole set in by 11:00!

So.. come out, see some great bands, and vote for murmur!

To all of you that came out and voted for us last night at the Canal Street Tavern Dayton Band Playoffs, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks. We would especially like to thank all the die hard fans that stuck around until the bitter end of the show.

To those of you that didn't come what were you thinking? Sure it was late (our set didn't start 'til midnight) but you missed one of the best murmur shows ever and (using the transitive property) one of the best shows ever, period.

With the help of our fans, we came in third out of the bands we played with, scoring 22 votes, which lands us in a four-way tie for 11th place There are only nine bands left to play in the first round, so our second round berth is guaranteed. That means that all of you that didn't come to the first round can make it up to us by showing up at our second round show and voting for us.

And We're Baaaack!

Contrary to what you might read about us in US Weekly and Star Magazine, Murmur has not disbanded. In fact we're back to rock your face off!

Murmur will be competing in the Canal Street Tavern 2006 Dayton Band Playoffs. The way we win this thing is by having people come out and vote for us. I know it's a terribly complicated process, but our fans are bright ones and we have confidence in you all.

Another interesting tidbit of information is that this is a bit of history repeating itself for the band. Last year's Band Playoffs was our first show together as a band, and this year will be our first show with our new drummer Jorge. Even more reason to come out and rock, eh?

I'm happy to report that Jorge Nunez has joined the band in the drummer position. This guy kicks serious ass and we're really happy he's come on board. Look for pictures and a bio coming soon.

Also! We're back on track with the album! We expect to have it completed and in your hot little hands within the next 2 or 3 months. It's sounding fantastic, if I do say so myself, and we can't wait to get back out and see all of you again. Be on the lookout for new songs here and on our myspace page soon!

Ch ch ch Changes

I know its been a while, so I thought it was time to update everyone on what's been going on with Murmur.

The biggest change is that Nat has left the band, so we are currently in search of a new drummer. In the meantime, we are still working on finishing up the album.

We hope to get things wrapped up in the next month or so and then hit the road again to do more shows. We will be updating our site here with new songs as we go along. As a matter of fact, check out "Maybe" which we just put up today.

We're working on our first full-length album right now, locked away in the studio, staying up late and surviving on week-old pizza crusts.

We'll play a few shows this winter, so check back often to stay in the know.

Old News

Fall is upon us, and a chill is in the air. And with the changing of the seasons, we are going through a little change of our own. We are going to shift gears and move from performing to recording for a while. We hope to wrap-up recording of our first full-length album by the first of the year, with a release (and release party) in early 2006.

September was our busiest month so far and we would like to thank everyone that came out to the shows, and all the bands that shared the stage with us. We managed to hit four different venues (three we had never played at before) and three different cities, expanding our reach to the greater Dayton area.

We'd like to give a special shout-out to The Hinges, Terravada, and Wes Tirey and The Easyhearts. You guys were all great and we hope to cross paths again in the future.

Lest you think we are falling off the face of the earth, we are still going to be updating our MySpace site, and periodically posting songs from our upcoming album from time to time.

Really Old News

--We played Elbos last Sunday (8/28) with 3 other bands and all went pretty well considering the number of changes throughout the night. Everybody was on and off quickly and all the bands played solid sets. This was easily a Friday/Saturday caliber show, too bad it had to be on a Sunday with jobs awaiting us all in the morning! The Wankers, Lava Cola, and the Mergs are all a bunch of stand-up guys, and manager Eric G is the shiznit--best of luck to all of them! If you missed it, check out the calendar for the coming dates at the Canal St. Tavern, the Orbit Inn, and the Brewery. We've got some great acts added to the shows, including, repectively, H.A.M and Della Rocco, Sputnik Halo, and Wes Tirey. Rawk!

--Tonight's show (8/12) at the Southgate House went great. There were a lot of great bands there and a lot of great music throughout the night. The sound crew was phenomenal considering the huge task of getting all those bands on and off stage all night (especially bands like us, with cellos, and keyboards, etc...) Thanks to all of our friends who came out to support us, and all of our new friends that we met. See you guys in a couple of weeks at Elbos!

--The Hump Day Show at the Nite Owl in the Oregon district was definitely an interesting scene. We ended up having not 1, not 2, but 3 opening acts--one of which wore Halloween masks and tried to scare people. Yeah. Interesting scene. But we did have a celebrity appearance -- Vince Vaughn sat in on bass guitar with the Halloween band making it even more strange. The Sheats were nice guys and put on a good show -- I'm sure we'll see them again soon.

A big thanks to everyone who stuck out the late starting time and stayed to rock with us right up to 2:00am. You guys rule.

--Our Dublin Pub show was a great success! Since we had to do our own sound and bring our own P.A., it was a heck of a lot of work -- but seeing all of you there, and seeing (some of) you get up and dance made it all worth it. Thanks for coming out!

For those who like to drive or are in the Cincy area, we'll be playing a benefit show at the main ballroom of the Southgate House on Friday, August 12. This will be a Wilco tribute show, featuring great bands covering the music of Wilco. Proceeds will go to LINKS: (Lonely Instruments for Needy Kids), which puts instruments into the hands of disadvantaged kids in the Cincy Schools. If you've got an old instrument laying around, please consider hooking up the next generation of great musicians by donating it to this great program!
